Bayern Is Number One

Bayern for the first time in the rankings have displaced Barcelona at the top. This has officially sealed what we all knew for long that Bayern is the best team in the world since last one year. Victory against Dortmund and Barcelona's loss in Champion's league has confirmed officially that Bayern now rules football world.

Bayern at the top is the biggest news of the rankings but humiliating loss of Dortmund at the hands of Bayern itself is a big news. Now Dortmund are staring at first round exit in Champions league as well and that will be huge loss for the club who have made excellent progress in last two seasons. Something is wrong with Dortmund at this moment and that is why they have slipped to 14th in the rankings.

After slow start of the season both Manchester City and Manchester United have now caught the pace and now climbing the ranking and are at 6th and 9th respectively. Two weeks back, United were not even in top 20. Overall English teams still continue to dominate with six teams in top 20. Tottenham is getting points in Europe though they continue to struggle in domestic league.

String or draws has not helped Roma and slowly they are slipping down and now are at 7th, but reverse is true for the league 1 club Lille, who have steadily risen up to 15th and now are 2nd best ranked team from that league, ahead of Monaco.

Real Madrid continue their progress while Chelsea continue their inconsistency. Story to watch out for is that up to what position City can rise and what would Real Madrid do since Barcelona are falling now.

Rise of EPL

Six EPL teams in top 20 suggests the strength of Premier League. Though Tottenham has fallen out of top 10, Livepool has marched into the ranking at 19th position. Big teams lost this week, apart from United and Liverpool and that helped City and Chelsea to retain their position.
Fiorentina is steadily rising in the ranking with strong showings in both Serie A and in Europe. They are now second best team in Italy behind Roma. Unexpected two teams at top in Italy, leaving behind giants like Juventus and Inter while Milan dont even make it to rankings.

Bayern, Barcelona and Atletico Separated by Whisker

Just fractions separate top 3 teams on the top of the table and Barcelona somehow maintain their hold on top of the table. Bayern and Atletico both have done exceedingly well in last week both domestically and in Europe to cover the gap between them and Barcelona. Barcelona’s defense is losing them a lot of points in the rankings by conceding goals and failing to keep clean sheets.
Another team which has got into stride and is rising every week is Man City. They have raised 6 places after their demolition work in Premier League and Champions League. Watch out for them as they are preparing themselves to march into the top 5 in rankings. 3 Premier league teams in top 10 is good indication of revival of premier league and 5 in top 20 is a proof of quality of league.
French League 1 boasts of two of the richest clubs in the world in PSG and Monaco. While PSG continues its strong performance and maintains its position in top 5 and its reputation as one of the elite clubs in Europe, Monaco is struggling and now has slipped out of rankings (24th). Lille is getting points on board and is now the 2nd best ranked league 1 team after PSG. Monaco needs to rethink how to get more dominating performance out of this team.

Teams to watch out for next week are Barcelona (Can they retain number one?), Bayern and Atletico (Can they get enough points to dislodge Barcelona?) and Man City (Can they continue their strong run and break into top 5?).We will know next week. Another team that should look for a good show is Liverpool (21st). Good game this weekend can get them enough point to break into top 20 of rankings and they are capable of doing that this season. Exciting week ahead.

Bayern Fight it Out for Top Ranking

Gap between Barcelona and Bayern is reducing every week and now its just one bad game for Barcelona and one good game for Bayern apart. Roma’s amazing run continues and they are just fraction behind Bayern. Though they are not playing in Europe, that might be helping them in domestic league, but given the form they are in may be not playing in Europe is hurting their chances to reach at the top of the Rankings, as good performances in Europe has higher weight in the Ranking System. Even Athelatico is on the heels at number four.
After top four there is some gap between next groups of clubs who are fighting their own battle to reach at the top. PSG is riding on Ibra and is leading this group, followed by under performing Real Madrid and Dortmund. Tottenham is somehow hanging there in top 10 just a place above ever improving Chelsea.  Chelsea under Mourinho seems to be getting into a rhythm now with easy wins over closest rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.
Manchester United seems to be settling now under Moyes. Stretch of six unbeaten games have helped they to climb up to 17th in rankings, which looks good if you compare it with the position they were in two weeks back.

Only three la liga teams are in top 20 clubs and that in a way reflects poor distribution of quality in La Liga. All three clubs are in top seven of ranking and after that a huge gap. Compared to that, Premier League, Series A and BundesLiga have better representation. May be La Liga needs to work on its depth.

Roma Continues Unbeaten Run

This was a big week, coming after International break. Almost all the big teams got the results which was expected out of them, apart from of course Arsenal who were brought down to reality a bit by Dortmund. But Nothing to be disappointed for Arsenal fans as the defeat comes from hands of a team which itself it seems is peaking at right time. Another team which is starting to gain momentum for the long season is Chelsea, who silently have climbed into top 10 without making much noise. Usual Suspects Barcelona and Bayern keep dominating the table but Bayern is very quickly catching up at top and one good game can catapult them above Barcelona. We cannot ignore PSG among all this. Ibra is firing them to the top and now they are serious UCL challengers. Biggest loser of the week were Juventus, who after two defeats have now slipped out to the rankings. Disappointing for this European giant.

Belgian Bandwagon

As the world cup comes closer, more and more football fans around the world are hopping onto Belgian Bandwagon. Not too long ago Red Devils were considered outsides and a team supported by hipsters, but it did not take long for the the young Red Devils to stamp their authority on world football. Today, if you exclude traditional football powerhouses Brazil, Germany, Argentina and current Home of Football Spain, they are the favorite to win 2014.

I wont say that they will win 2014, but mark my words, they will win in 2018. Just have a look at the team-
Thibaut Courtois- 21 years of age and already top 5 goalkeepers in world.
Jan Vertonghen- 26 and keeps improving
Thomas Vermaelen-27
Kompany- 27 and already one of the best in world
Witsel- 24 and considered next big thing
Kevin De Bruyne- 22
Fellaini -25 , always makes his presence felt
Eden Hazard - 22 and Touted as one of the best young talent
Steven Defour- 25
Benteke- 22
Lukaku-20, some consider him to become best striker in world in 2-3 years
This team will play in 2014 and the same team will play in 2018. With the experience of one world cup behind them and maturity in the game that comes with the age, these young players of today will become world beaters. So even if they not go all the way in Brazil, in Russia it will be impossible to stop them.
This team is one of those golden generations which comes once in a while. Now all it needs is a proper guidance under a world class manager to achieve the dream of World Cup. Marc Wilmots has been doing a fin job and has extracted everything out of this young generation. Few of these players like Hazard, Benteke and Lukaku in 2-3 years time will be superstars and household names and to manage them at that time will be a different kind of challenge. All these players are playing for Big Clubs in Europe under experienced managers and that is a big help for national team manager. Champions league football helps to bring out best out of young players.
If you can put your bets for 2018, put that on Belgium. While the juggernaut keeps rolling, the expectations keep rising. Interesting to see how far they go in 2014.

Barcelona Dominance Continues

New Week New Ranking
And we have new ranking one day in advance. With no European football this week, the rankings changed based on home performance. With strong performances some of the traditional BIG teams are starting to climb up the rankings. Table is now shaping up for the long and unpredictable season and only exception is Barcelona which continues to dominate the rankings and is miles ahead of competition.
Good news for United Fans as the team climbs back into the rankings. Liverpool fans might find it hard to agree with the rankings, but these rankings takes account of not only victories but also the manner in which the game was won, the opposition, and the competition. If Liverpool continue their strong start, their time will soon come.
Roma is the team that must get special mention. Though they are not playing in Europe, their dominating performance in league has catapulted them to second position in the rankings. Just one goal conceded in 7 Games is just a pointer.

Need For This Ranking

This ranking is required for the following reasons-
Existing rankings are not scientific and mostly based on votes and personal preferences.
Their is hug disconnect between what most of the fans think about the teams which are top and what the EXPERTS think about the teams which are at top
Why this ranking is BEST IN WORLD-
It accounts for opposition strenght
It accounts for goal scored
It accounts for clean sheets
It accounts for home and away factors
It accounts for consistency
Based on the factors I have created this BEST RANKING SYSTEM IN FOOTBALL.
This Rankings will appear every Week-Friday
